Let’s Play Ball- Party by Bloom

So after a year of telling me that he was going to Chuck E. Cheese for his 7th birthday, my son Luke told me he wanted to play ball for his party.  I immediately knew this was the perfect theme for him and was more than happy to accommodate his change of heart. I wanted it to be bright, bold and graphic. He helped choose a color scheme of red, navy, green and orange which were carried throughout the party.

We created a Dugout for the boys to eat lunch in. I sewed yards and yards of pennants to hang from the roof of our “dugout” and covered the picnic table in fake grass. I made a hat rack to display baseball caps monogrammed with a 7 which served as party favors. The boys each had their own take out boxes with sliders (hamburgers), handballs (strawberries), basketballs (Cheetos balls) and equipment (utensils).

At the refreshment stand the boy could grab baseballs (donut holes) or footballs (pretzels) and a drink from the minors bucket which I made with my Silhouette machine.  Grown-up had a special Grand Slam drink to celebrate the occasion.

Dessert was set up on a concession stand.  I have used this same stand at several of my parties.  I worked with Edible Details to recreate the balls on the invite for the top of the cake.  I also made basketball cupcakes and chocolate covered Oreos with fondant toppers.  Football and baseball cookies,  cracker jacks, peanuts and vanilla shakes filled out the table.

The yard was surrounds by a dozen 36 inch balloons and filled with solid beach balls.  The boys had a blast playing volleyball, handball and just being boys.

Oh my goodness, you knocked it out of the park with this one! (pun intended…hee hee) I love every single crisp, clean, clever detail. Pinned it like crazy. :)

My little guy is only 3 and currently car-and-train obsessed, but I’m sure when he gets older he’d love this party.

  1. […] Hi Everyone!  I am finally recovered from the Derby and will share all the fun stuff with you tomorrow!  I wanted to share these easy golf themed cupcakes with you to get you thinking about summer parties.  Sports, whether it be in general or a specific one, are a great party theme and are easy to work with.  Since most ball are round the graphics and motifs are simple.  Look at all the round objects around you that you can turn into a ball- paper lanterns, paper plates, balloons or  gum balls.  Remember my Strikes and Staches Party or my Let’s Play Ball Party.
