BBQ BIRTHDAY PARTY – CHILLIN and GRILLIN

While Labor Day may mark the end of summer, it doesn’t need to end BBQ season.  Fall is my favorite time to host evening events.  The cool night air is perfect for a get together.  I actually hosted this BBQ Birthday Party for my son about a year and a half ago BUT… it would be a great theme for any fall birthday.

One of Luke’s favorite thing to do is chill with his friends so “Chillin’ and Grillin'” was the perfect theme for his 11th birthday. Sports has been the theme to his birthdays the last several year (see here, here, or here) so this theme was a welcome break.  Tan, black and white- the color of s’mores was the perfect color scheme for this laid back evening. I had custom plates and cups made and then stamped mini kraft bags with our party theme to add a personalized touch to the food table.

 

S’mores also took center stage at the party.  S’more cupcakes, cake, mini apple pies, brownie trifles and custom sugar cookies filled the dessert table.  The boys’ favorite dessert though had to be the bacon maple donuts.  They then made their own concoctions at our s’mores bar.

The boys spent the afternoon playing hoops, swimming and just hanging out. Party favors were simple- mini more kits for the boys to eat at home.
