Hi Everyone- I am so excited to have Alexis from the blog Jaco’lyn Murphy Designs sharing a great summer activity today. This would also be a terrific party craft. Jaco’lyn Murphy Designs is on of the cleverest blogs around and always makes me laugh. Make sure to check it out!
This is a Summer Bangle Bracelet we have been making for years.
They are colorful, easy for young and old to create and the design options are endless.
We make them in team colors, shades to match that perfect outfit
and of course for any patriotic occasion!
Gather your favorite colorful yarn
grab some bamboo skewers…
stop by your local hardware store for some clear vinyl tubing
(it is very inexpensive, at my store it was about 40 cents a foot)
and get 2 sizes, making sure one tube will fit into the other for your bracelet “clasp”
(here I used I used the 1/4″ and 5/16″ sizes)
cut smaller width tubing (at an angle) to desired “bangle” length,
start to thread yarn into tube being careful to not stuff it in too tight,
use a skewer to help guide it in…
Once first strand is in,
add baby oil and watch in amazement how it starts to look like glass.
When the oil has gone down the strand,
you can use the skewer to “jam” it in tighter
(we’ve found if it was packed in too tight at first,
the oil wouldn’t saturate the entire length of the yarn)
then repeat the steps with your next strand,
then cut a small piece of the larger tubing…
to attach the 2 ends together…
The perfect accessory for all your summer tasks!
Thank you so much for having me Jenny!
I would love to have you join me on
