Large chalkboards are fun to use at parties but they can be very expensive if you buy one in the stores. This backdrop was easy to make and didn’t cost a lot of money.
You need
- A piece of 1/2 inch plywood (mine is 40 inches by 72 inches). The store should cut it for you.
- a quart of chalk board paint in any color and a roller
- chalk
Using a paint roller, paint your plywood with the chalkboard paint and let dry. Stencil on you design with a pencil. I used a large star that I found at the party store to draw my star. I then drew a small border around it. I also cut out the 11 in vinyl with my silhouette machine and attached the vinyl to my board. I colored around it and then removed so that the numbers would be crisp and straight. Use a wet cloth to erase any mistakes.
For this back drop, I used curtains to decorate the sides. Best part- now that the part is over my kids use this backdrop to play school.
One party down, two to go, finding a rental, packing and moving all in the next two weeks. Have to remind myself to keep breathing. Have a great week.
