Happy almost September- my favorite time of year. There is something about fall that just screams family, comfort and nesting to me. I never let a year go by without making one of our favorite treats- caramel apples.
I am a traditionalist at heart. Plain caramel apples are usually my favorite but this year I have become a huge fan of caramel apples dipped in toffee bit. It add a slight tangy saltiness to the apple. A little goes a long way. Make your apples using your favorite caramel apple recipe. They are pretty simple. Right after you dip them in the melted caramel, let the excess drip off and the press the apple into the heath pieces. I usually just dip the bottom third. If you want to share these treats with a friend, wrap them in cellophane and tie them up with this simple Sweet to the Core tag.
