Bourbon and Bluegrass 40th Birthday

Hi Everyone! I am so excited for fall to begin. I know we have many weeks of summer left but once school starts I automatically shift my focus to fall. Early fall is the most perfect time of year to host an outdoor party. I try to do one every year and this Bourbon and Bluegrass was and still is one of my favorite and popular parties. The theme works great for so many occasions including birthdays, football bashes, house warming or just for a fun gathering. I styled this one for my sweet friend’s husband’s 40th birthday party. He husband grew up in the south and she wanted to honor his southern roots while keeping the party elegant, pretty and proper. We decided on a light burlap and navy color scheme and incorporated a wood grain background on all the decor. The invitation and all of the printables are available in my shop.

Since the guest of honor was from the south the dessert table featured lots southern favorites in addition to other dessert the fit our color scheme. We served a spice cake with a wooden topper by Ten 23 Designs, snicker doodle, oatmeal and peanut butter cookies, caramel cheesecake shots, elvis pie, banana whoopie pies, bourbon bread pudding and cupcakes with amazing banjo and bourbon bottle fondant toppers by Edible Details. I made the backdrop for the table out of 6 foot boards- so simple!

The highlight of the party was the bourbon and cigar bar where guest sampled three kinds of bourbon.

Guest also sipped on two signature drink, Kentucky Mules and The Southern Socialite.

The tables were set with burlap runners, wooden lanterns and white hydrangea centerpieces. Silver frames held fun signs throughout the party and twinkle lights created the perfect ambience for this 40th birthday celebration.
