Hi Everyone! Today I’m hoping to make you life a litte less stressful with these three easy summer getaway tips. As a family with four little ones, our summers are always filled with fun outdoor getaways. My kids love being outdoors so we try to take every opportunity we have to camp or to just get away for the day. Since we live in Southern California, there are so many fabulous places to explore less than an hour away. That doesn’t mean it’s easy- especially with four kids. Lots of thought and planning always goes into making sure we have everything we need for a great, memorable trip. Here are our few of my favorite family summer getaway tips whether it’s for a few hours or a few days
Plan Ahead- I like to make a standard packing list for every type of outing. Even if we are just going away for the day, my kids usually need a change of clothes, snacks, and some type of game or activity. I also include what I call daily supplies like plastic bags and Wet-Nap® Antibacterial Hand Wipes to make clean up easier. Playing outside is dirty. I alway stock up on lots Wet-Naps when I’m shopping at Walmart so tackling the mess is easy!
Make Your Meals- I like to premake and take all the food we will need for the day. Prepackaged, individual portion just make life easier and there is nothing worse than having to leave all the fun to find something to eat. When we do a day excursion, I pack each of our individual meals complete with Wet-Nap® Antibacterial Hand Wipes for clean hands. For weekend camping trips, try prepping and freezing all your meal all your meals before leaving and just pop in them over the fire (or oven if you camp site has one). Meal time should be the least of your worries.
Make It Memorable- I always try to do one activity/special dessert to make the day a bit sweeter. Our favorite treat by far this summer is banana boats. They are kind of like a more but better and the kids love making them. Simply split a banana down the middle length wise and gently spread open. Stuff with anything you like. I always have chocolate chips, mini marshmallows, butterscotch chips or caramel bites on hand. Nuts, peanut butter chips and raspberries are also great. Make sure to have a canister of Wet-Nap® Antibacterial Hand Wipes to clean hands before make and for cleaning up after eating. These are gooey and messy! Once the banana is stuffed. wrap in foil on cook over fire or in the oven until the inside is melted. Beyond delicious!
