Modern Fireman Party : Friday Feature

Sound the alarms:) You are going to fall in love with this awesome Firman Birthday Party styled by Xiomara Romana of A Styled Fete for her son’s fifth birthday.  I have to be honest with you.  This is the first party I’ve seen in a while that has really inspired me.  There are so many fresh and creative ideas beyond the standard party set up.  It’s simple and clean but detailed and original all at the same time.  I also love the use of industrial elements and the crisp black, white and red color scheme.

This year my son asked to have a firetruck and puppy party for his birthday. I was really excited to plan a party with such a classic theme but I knew I wanted to give it a little twist. I am currently obsessing over anything and everything  industrial looking and it only made sense I would want the party to have a somewhat industrial feel. To achieve this look, we went with a gray, red, white and black color palette with lots of metal and wood elements throughout the decor.

I always like to use furniture pieces or some kind of unexpected “table” to display desserts. For this party I envisioned the dessert table to be an industrial style shelving unit. I asked my husband to build one and I was so excited with how it turned out…it really gave the party the industrial vibe I was going for! I decorated the top shelf with some 21″ galvanized metal letters found at Hobby Lobby spelling the word “FIRE”. The second and third shelves were the perfect spot to hang the beautiful “Happy Birthday” banner designed by Anders Ruff.  I used some pretend firefighter gear to decorate and style the table as well. Sweets included a beautiful firetruck cake, s’more cupcakes with marshmallow frosting and gorgeous firefighter themed cookies by Heidi’s Sweet Shoppe.

The party was held in our dining room and as guest entered the house they were able to see the room all set up for the party. I decided to decorate our farmhouse dining table with a simple linen table runner and galvanized metal cake plates holding dalmatian puppies as centerpieces. For table settings, I used red and gray plates, hand stamped muslin bags with napkin/utensils and “walkie talkie” juice boxes. To keep our little guests entertained while the food was being served, mini tin containers decorated with a personalized firefighter “badge” label and filled with firefighter figurines were set at the table for kids to play.
