Hi Everyone! Hope you had a great weekend. There is nothing my kids LOVE more than Nutella. After my son told the pediatrician that he had chocolate sandwiches for breakfast, I decided that I had better come up with a proper Nutella dessert. These hand pies are so yummy and simple to make. I thought the little heart was a perfect addition for the holiday.
You need
- Nutella
- pie crust dough (homemade or store-bought)
- sugar
- a heart cookie cutter
- 1 egg white mix with 1 tablespoon water
Roll out your pie crust dough. Cut into rectangles. Mine are about 4×6 inches but any size will work. You could also do this with circles cutters if you want. These are very forgiving.
With the short end of the rectangle facing you, cut a heart in the center of the bottom half.
Spread the upper half with Nutella leaving about 1/4 inch around the edges.
Fold the dough in half. Using a fork, press the edges closed. Bush with the egg wash and sprinkle with sugar.
Bake at 400 for about 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
These would wrap beautifully for a sweet gift for neighbors and friends. You can find a sweetie pie printable like the one below, here.
Off to a great week.
XO,
Jenny
